This international conference titled Museums and Communities: Diversity, Dialogue and Collaboration was organized at the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology on October 25th and 26th, 2015. More than 30 participants from ethnographic museums in 18 countries and territories joined the conference. The presentations focused on the role of communities in museum work. Prof. Dr. Võ Quang Trọng, Director of the VME, gave a presentation on Promoting Community Engagement in Cultural Heritage Safeguarding – Experiences of the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology.
This is an annual conference held by the International Committee for Museums of Ethnography (ICME). It is a forum for participants to together discuss and share experiences in order to promote the role of communities in presenting and safeguarding values of objects in museums as well as of cultural heritage within communities.
